Functions of QEC
The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) at Jinnah Medical College carries out various functions, including:
- Coordinating with the Department of Medical Education based on their academic calendar to conduct feedback surveys from students and faculty.
- Preparing summary reports from received feedback and forwarding them to the concerned Head of Department for necessary actions.
- Conducting an annual self-assessment of the MBBS program
- Arranging Assessment Team visits to evaluate the Self-Assessment Report
- Ensuring the follow-up and implementation of recommendations from Assessment Teams.
- Implementing quality assurance criteria from the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC).
- Organizing workshops, seminars, and conferences on quality assurance and related topics.
- Formulating SOPs and policies as needed by the institution.
- Sensitizing department heads before council visits.
- Attending and contributing to national and international workshops, seminars, and conferences for capacity building.
- Collecting and providing institution/college statistics for ranking assessments on an annual basis by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
- Developing procedures for approval of new programs, annual monitoring and evaluation, departmental review, student and employer feedback, quality assurance of Master's, M.Phil., and Ph.D. degree programs (where applicable), subject review, institutional performance assessment, program specifications, and qualification framework
- Establishing and maintaining Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) agreements between JMC and other relevant institutions or organizations to enhance educational collaborations and quality improvement efforts
- Handling NoC matters with PMDC.
